The Tartan 34, designed by Sparkman and Stephens, made her debut in 1968.  Tartan 34's were renowned for their quality of construction, excellent sailing characteristics, attractive lines, and a comfortable cockpit and accommodations. Over 500 were built over the next 10 years.  Well maintained Tartan 34's continue to be in demand on the brokerage market.  

OTTER's current owners have owned her with pride and have upgraded her nicely.  She is neat and clean and presents herself beautifully.  Her owners have decided it's time to give up sailing.  She's on a mooring in Marion, MA and can be easily seen.  She's been priced to sell and is ready for you to sail her home.

Accommodations

Sleeps five/six.  V berth with filler cushion forward, main cabin with settees port and starboard.  Port settee converts to form double berth. Fold down bulkhead-mounted table, stores on bulkhead. Quarterberth and nav area aft to port, galley opposite to starboard. All settee cushions 4" foam. Teak cabin sole. 6' 2" headroom throughout.

 

Galley

Galley features countertop, two-burner, non-pressurized, Origo alcohol stove, stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressurized water, and ice box.

Electrical

12 volt DC electrical system includes two Group 27 deep-cycle marine batteries, one new, the other four years old. Battery selector switch, three Blue Seas fused distribution panels, small 12 volt DC to 110 volt AC inverter. All lights, both interior and exterior, have been converted to LED.

Electronics and Navigation

Garmin GPSmap 192 color GPS/chartplotter, Furuno 1623 radar with mast-mounted antenna. Display is mounted on a swing-out bracket at the companionway. Raymarine 4000+ autopilot with wireless remote control, DMI depthsounder with transducer mounted inside hull, Standard Horizon SL 45 knotmeter/log, Icom IC-M424G VHF radio transceiver, with built-in GPS, Ritchie pedestal-mounted compass.

Engine and Mechanical

Original Universal Atomic Four 30 horsepower, four cylinder, fresh-water-cooled, gas engine which owner states burns about one gallon an hour. at 1,800 RPM (about 5.6 knots). Heat exchanger was replaced with a higher capacity exchanger. Electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, three-blade bronze Indigo Electronics propeller designed for use with the Atomic Four. 50 amp alternator. Low oil pressure sensor. Adjustable fresh water cooling valve-manual. Two boxes of engine maintenance materials and spares.

Hull and Deck

Shoal draft keel with centerboard, skeg-mounted rudder. Edson pedestal wheel steering. Bow anchor roller, Simpson-Lawrence manual windlass, Double lifelines with port boarding gate. Transom-mounted folding stainless steel swim ladder with teak treads. Three overhead opening hatches, one original, two more recent Bomar. Two New found Metals stainless steel opening ports, two dorade vents. Saltwater anchor washdown pump in cockpit with hose to reach bow.

Sails and Rigging

Keel-stepped aluminum mast. Fully-battened Harding mainsail (about 2010)  in good condition with two sets of reef points, single-line reefing, reefing line led aft to cockpit. Harding 125% roller-furling genoa (about 2015) in good condition. Genniker (blue and white) with sock and dousing line). Profurl genoa roller-furling system. Boom vang, Garhauer mainsheet traveller mounted on coachroof. Lewmar winch inventory includes: two #45 self-tailing genoa sheet winches, one #16 self-tailing genoa roller-reefing control line winch, #16 self-tailing winch mounted on coachroof, to port of companionway for mainsheet and topping lift, #30 self-tailing winch mounted on coachroof, to starboard of companionway for main halyard and reefing.

Cockpit dodger, bimini, and connecting piece. Mainsail cover. Port and starboard cockpit enclosure panels.  Cockpit shower with hot and cold pressurized water. teak cockpit table, plastic drink holders. Emergency tiller. 33 lb.
