The New York 40 (NY 40) was commissioned by the New York Yacht Club as a one-design performance racer/cruiser class.  Designed by Doug Peterson, reportedly 21 were built between 1977 and 1979.  They are still competitive, and one of the photos accompanying this listing shows two competing side-by-side in this year's FIGAWI race.  The NY 40 is a powerful sailer upwind but enjoys excellent light air performance.  The interior plan is comfortable, sleeping eight, if necessary but very comfortable for two couples in two private cabins.

BLIXTAR (Ex "JUBILATION") has enjoyed excellent ownership over the years and has been thoughtfully upgraded. Her care is evident, and she shows beautifully,  She received a fresh navy blue Awlgrip in 2020 as well as new upper shrouds and a new backstay. She has been hauled for the winter and may be easily seen.
