Plumbing

The complete water and sanitation system was replaced 2010. All through hull fittings and seacocks below waterline are made of bronze and coated with three layer of white epoxy for extended corrosion resistance. All seacocks are bounded to the vessels grounding system and hull zinc plates with a 6 AWG cable for protection against galvanic corrosion. Fresh water: 2 X 40 gal. One piece molded durable polyethylene water tanks that meet Coast Guard standards are fitted under the main saloon sole. The tanks are fitted with necessary venting. Pressurized water system. Tubing in cross-linked polyethylene Flexpipe marine-grade. Stainless steel double sink in galley, washbasins in both heads. All faucets in chrome plated brass. Engine Room

Easy access to the spacious engine room is via lifting floor with sound insulated panels. A telescopic stainless ladder makes it easy to climb down for maintenance. Following equipment is installed in the engine room:

  • Volvo Penta diesel engine
  •  9 kW Onan Generator
  • Borg Warner Gear Box
  • Two Fuel Tanks
  • Ventilated Battery Compartments.
  • Water Heater with Mixer
  • Fresh Water Pump
  • DS-unit
  • Pre fuel filters 2 for the engine and one for the generator.
  • Fresh water intakes and filters for engine and generator.

All service points on the engine and generator are easy accessible. The space under the engine is separated from the rest of the bilge, possible oil leakage from the engine is confined and will not be pumped overboard, it has to be removed by hand.

A diesel engine requires sufficient volume of air or else it will lose power. For the engine to function properly and give full power it is absolutely necessary that both the inlet and outlet air ducts are adequately dimensioned. Prime Time has an improved air intake four times larger than a standard Nauticat. The engine room most also be ventilated, so that the temperature can be kept down to a satisfactory level. To ventilate the engine room more effectively and keep the temperature at a low level, Prime Time has two heavy duty suction fans installed in the outlet air ducts. The fans are rated for continues duty. The above measures surely contributes to Prime Time’s outstanding fuel economy.

HVAC System

For maximum comfort Prime Time has two reverse cycle ducted A/C unit with a total capacity of 28,000 BTU. A 10,000 BTU unit serving the fore cabin and a 16,000 BTU unit serving the pilot house and the aft cabin, one unit was installed 2011. The other unit 2020. The units are sea water cooled and a March pump serves as a cooling pump, pumping sea water through the system. The units are reversible and produce heat when desired. Thermostats with adjustable fan speed for maximum comfort and sound level.
