2002 Catalina 42 MkII

The Catalina 42 has earned an international reputation as the leader in her class. By leading in design, cruising performance, and comfort, the Catalina 42 has become the first choice of sailors worldwide. The hull of the 42 MkII is high volume, and easily driven, with a fine entry, firm midship section, and smooth run aft terminating in a modified reverse transom with an uncommonly spacious and functional boarding platform. A long, horizontal skeg runs aft between the fin or wing keel and the rudder for sure tracking. The rudder is large and balanced, ensuring control in all conditions. The Catalina 42 MkII deck was designed with shorthanded sailing in mind. All the halyards, the mainsheet and the single line main reefing controls are led to the cockpit, and placed to be operated from under the dodger when necessary. The wide weather decks and inboard shroud base make passage forward easy and secure. The bow roller and below deck electric windlass greatly simplify anchor handling. Both the two and three cabin arrangements feature varnished teak joinery and ash side paneling on the hull. Excellent light and ventilation are provided naturally from aluminum-framed opening hatches and ports. Numerous recessed halogen lights offer an inviting ambiance.

Head forward with separate shower stall.  Double Pullman berth next aft to port. Main cabin features dinette to port, settee and nav station opposite to starboard.  Galley next aft to port, enclosed head opposite to starboard.  Private double cabin aft of head. Inner-spring mattresses on berths in forward and aft cabins. Reverse-cycle heating/air conditioning system that is powered by 110 volt dockside power.

L-shaped galley features 12 volt Adler Barbour refrigerated ice box, three-burner, gimbaled, stainless steel, propane stove with oven, double stainless steel sinks with pressurized hot and cold water. built-in 110 volt AC-powered microwave.

12 volt DC and 110 volt AC dockside systems.  12 volt system has three 12 volt batteries, circuit breaker distribution panel with volt and ammeters. Charles 40 amp battery charger.  Two 50' 30 amp shore power cords.

Raytheon Axiom 9 RV touchscreen chartplotter/GPS with 9" display, Raytheon ST60 knotmeter/log, depthsounder, and windspeed/direction indicators mounted at pedestal in NavPids. Raytheon multi-function repeater at nav station below. Standard Horizon Intrepid VHF radio transceiver with RAM mike in cockpit. Raytheon RL70RC radar with mast-mounted antenna (radar not currently working), Raytheon ST6001+ Autohelm autopilot. pedestal-mounted compass.

2002 Yanmar 50 horsepower fresh-water-cooled diesel with approximately 1,300 hours.  3-blade propeller.  Yanmar 1,000 hour service.

Shoal draft wing keel hull. T-shaped cockpit, two observation seats in stern rail. Bow thruster. Hot/cold cockpit shower. Four overhead opening ventilation hatches. Stern-mounted stainless steel swim ladder. Edson pedestal wheel steering with folding elkhide-covered wheel. Teak cockpit grate. Fiberglass cockpit table with leaves and foot braces. Stainless steel bow roller. Foredeck anchor locker. Maxwell electric  anchor windlass with foot switches for both up and down functions. Double lifelines with port and starboard boarding gates. Midship cleats.

Masthead rig with deck stepped mast with two spreaders and in-mast mainsail furling. Sail inventory includes furling mainsail and 140% roller-furling genoa. Two two-speed self-tailing genoa sheet winches, two-speed self-tailing main halyard/sheet winchg, two-speed self-tailing jib halyard winch. Roller-furling system for genoa. Coachroof-mounted mainsheet traveler. All halyards led aft. Line-controlled rigid boom vang.
